In Episode 141, Dr. Trayford teaches us that when balance gets worse memory gets worse. impaired vestibular system people find vertigo rides terrifying. the vestibular system is connected to other parts of the brain like the frontal lobes and limbic system. That explains why vertigo triggers emotional reactions.
dual tasking has a compound effect. Counting backward from 100 by threes standing on 2 feet is dual tasking. when we improve brain function through combining physical and mental activity people get better. there are a lot of causes for dimentia, but sometimes people can improve.

Anyone who has ever cared for a child over night at least once in their life knows that throughout the varies parts of the sleep cycle, the child will sleep better if it is dark. The same is true for people of all ages. Make sure you make your bedroom a dark place. Blackout curtains are a great solution, especially if your work schedule requires you to sleep during the day. Dr. Trayford has a friend who is a pilot who routinely flies back and forth from New York City to Tokyo.
